KBJJ Coaches are experienced instructors with international rankings, teacher training, appropriate insurance & safeguarding training
Our Coaches receive professional development, including ongoing teacher training & emergency medical care qualifications. All are subject to United Kingdom Police vetting, cleared to work with children & vulnerable persons through the DBS service
We also attract some of the best instructors from around the world as guest star “Associate Professors” to add more value for our members.
Professor Mark Bauer - Head Coach & co-owner: KBJJ
Mark, a BJJ second degree black belt under BJJ Legend, Roger Gracie, 10 x world champion. Mark said “Professor Gracie a renowned fighter, coach and the professional head of respected global BJJ Academy. He is one of the most humble & dedicated mentors we could have in our corner. As a proudly independent BJJ Academy based in Cornwall, we are honoured to have his guidance and support".
A successful competitor, Mark is an inspirational coach, respected by his peers for his sincere dedication to BJJ, his team and his own development.
Professor Clint Hosking: KBJJ
Clint, a BJJ first degree black belt under BJJ Legend Mauricio Gomes, is a qualified teacher with over twenty years of experience in the education sector. He began his martial arts training in 1990 with karate, earning his black belt in 1994.
Clint has been training in BJJ for over ten years. He teaches on the white belt (beginners) class, also the children & adult classes in general.
Known for his knowledge of the fundamentals as much as for his warmth & sense of humour, Clint embodies the sense of family that we have at KBJJ.
Coach Tony Harrison: KBJJ
Tony, a BJJ black belt under Mark Bauer, teaches adults & beginners classes. Tony is a skilled BJJ practitioner, a very approachable Coach & an awesome competitor to watch when he finds time to compete.
Coach Daryll Doyle: KBJJ
Daryll, a BJJ purple belt, is an active competitor. Passionate about teaching & seeing the next generation of competitors learning & growing, Daryll assists Mark & the KBJJ Academy with our digital presence in all aspects.
KBJJ Associate Professor: Dean Lister: USA
AKA “The Boogeyman”, Dean is a professional grappler & BJJ black belt. He gained notoriety after he won the 2003 ADCC (the world’s most prestigious submission wrestling / Nogi event) in the open weight division. He went on to fight in the world’s biggest organisations, Pride FC & the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).
Dean is a great coach, having trained professional MMA fighters like Tito Ortiz. A KBJJ Associate Professor, Dean returns regularly to run seminars & support KBJJ as we continue to develop fighters for national & international competitions.
Becky McNicol-Jones - Yoga Teacher: KBJJ
A Buddhist practitioner for 30 years, Becky has studied & taught buddhist philosophy & meditation techniques for several decades. As a result, the philosophy of yoga feels very natural to her. She completed the 300 hour teacher training with the highly regarded Limehouse Yoga in 2019, accredited & insured by YAP (Yoga Alliance Professionals).
In October 2019 Becky completed the first Yoga for BJJ teacher training with founder & BJJ black belt Sebastian Brosche, the pioneer of Yoga for BJJ. Becky loves to bring the benefits of yoga practice to the BJJ community, having found that yoga makes us fitter, more flexible, less susceptible to injury & helps our fight game immensely. Becky runs Yoga for BJJ warm ups for BJJ sessions, as well as specific Yoga for BJJ stand alone sessions.
